This exciting news is a boon for Park City skiers! Mayflower Mountain Resort will become part of Deer Valley and open an Eastern portal to the famed ski slopes, which have ranked as the Best Ski Resort in the nation for the past ten years by World Ski Awards. Mayflower Mountain Resort, which will now become known as Deer Valley, is being developed by Extell Development Company in conjunction with the Utah Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA). Located to the east of the current Deer Valley slopes, Mayflower is convenient to US 40 that connects I-80 and Heber City. Situated across the highway from the Jordanelle Reservoir, the new Deer Valley slopes will capture water to mountain vistas.
The ski resort will enlarge the Deer Valley footprint that is currently 103 distinct runs spreading across 6 mountain peaks and 2,026 acres, efficiently serviced by a complement of 21 lifts. The expansion should add 3700 acres of skiable terrain, 4 mountain peaks, 135 runs and 16 lifts. The expanded resort anticipates to encompass a grand total of 238 exhilarating runs, sprawling across an expansive 5,726 acres of inviting skiable terrain across 10 mountain peaks, all thoughtfully attended to by a network of up to 37 lifts—highlighted by what is projected to be the lengthiest six-person lift in North America.
The highly anticipated expansion of Deer Valley Resort is set to introduce a brand-new village (with the official name still under wraps). The development plans include a central lodge at the base, four exquisite mountainside dining establishments, a state-of-the-art ski school and dedicated facility for children, a Nordic Center, an innovative ice skating arena, and the most extensive ski beach found on the entire North American continent.
Visitors to the resort can look forward to a well-equipped base lodge offering both ski rental services and an array of dining choices. Furthermore, an impressive array of up to nine hotels is currently in progress. Notably, one of these hotels will allocate a portion of its accommodations to cater specifically to military members and their families.
In terms of scale, the project encompasses a total of 1,800 residential units. What’s particularly noteworthy is the substantial commitment to addressing the vital issue of affordable workforce housing. This commitment underscores the importance of providing suitable housing options for employees working within the ski resort industry.
